How to Prepare a Tech Pack for Knitwear Production
A clear tech pack helps a knitwear manufacturer understand the intended product before sampling. It does not need to be complicated, but it should contain the information that affects fit, construction, materials and finishing.
Include the basic product information
Provide the style name, reference images, target market, season, intended fit and size range. Identify which details are essential to the brand and which can be adjusted during development.
Define measurements and construction
List key points of measure, tolerances, neckline, sleeve, hem, stitch structure, gauge and finishing direction. Technical sketches or close-up references can help clarify details that words alone may not explain.
Specify yarn, color and trims
Include fiber composition, yarn preference, color references, labels, buttons, hangtags and packaging requirements. If the final material is still being evaluated, mark it as a development option rather than a confirmed specification.
Prepare for sample review
Keep one record of comments, revisions and approval decisions. This makes it easier to compare the revised sample with the original brief and reduces the risk of untracked changes.
Send your knitwear brief
Share your reference files, target quantity and delivery market through the KnitwearSource RFQ form to start a structured sampling discussion.
